The Lore Behind Valhalla’s Hylja M&P Shield IWB Holster
When Valhalla Shooting Supply set out to create our business, we always had the intention of crafting products of our own. We started our journey creating Kydex gun holsters for both every day carry & competitive shooting, and we’ve had plenty of time to perfect it since. The first product that we ever made ourselves is this Hylja M&P Shield IWB holster. After all this time, you could say this one is like our firstborn child. We spent a ton of time perfecting this Hylja M&P Shield IWB holster, from getting the retention points just right, to adding adjustability, to testing the best possible belt clips, we labored over the design.
Over time, our design got better and better. While we certainly don’t ever get complacent with our Hylja M&P Shield IWB holsters, we truly believe we have come to develop one of the best concealed carry holsters for the handgun owners on the market today. Every single Hylja M&P Shield IWB holster is handmade in the USA using our proprietary manufacturing methods. This allows for the best possible repeatability in our design, while also allowing for us to fine-tune each Hylja M&P Shield IWB holster. While our background is in engineering (specifically design & manufacturing processes), our passion lies in the shooting industry. We use our own designs for our own EDC far before they ever go up for sale, meaning we have time to perfect them before you ever see them.
Features Of Our Hylja M&P Shield Kydex IWB Holster
Throughout their legendary time, Vikings were never an army that featured a standard battle kit for every warrior. They often carried their own weapons & armor, customized to their own unique fighting style. Combined with skilled fighting ability, this led to each warrior knowing exactly what worked best for them, and being able to maximize its effectiveness.
Our goal with the Hylja M&P Shield IWB Holster from Valhalla Shooting Supply is to give you that same customizability with your firearm. You’ve no doubt customized your pistol itself to some degree to make you more comfortable & confident in your firearm. However, your effectiveness with your handgun doesn’t stop with the firearm itself. You need to be able to confidently access your sidearm at a moment’s notice, even with a concealment holster.
That’s why we’ve created a lineup of holsters that can be adjusted to your exact preferences. We want you to be able to get to your firearm as quickly as possible with our Hylja IWB concealment holster. With this M&P Shield IWB Holster, drawing your gun is going to feel as natural as it possibly can.
Go ahead and take a look at just a few of the features in our Hylja M&P Shield Concealment Holster:
Retention is one of those things that is always going to be a matter of personal preference. Whether you’re looking for tight, loose, or anywhere in between, our adjustable retention allows you to dial it in just right for you. This protects your gun from any wiggling or unwanted movement. When you’re wearing your Smith & Wesson M&P Shield IWB holster from Valhalla Shooting Supply, we want you to feel as comfortable & confident as possible.
Raised Sight Channel
One of the things that is the most fun about owning a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield is the numerous ways you can customize it. We’re fully aware that many Shield owners end up wanting to outfit their gun with aftermarket sights. Our Hylja M&P Shield IWB holster has a raised sight channel to allow more room for most aftermarket sights.
Integrated Sweat Shield
There isn’t much that is more frustrating than rubbing up against the cold steel of your firearm, just to instantly start sweating. For that reason we’ve engineered our Hylja M&P Shield IWB Holsters to incorporate a full sweat shield. This protects your gun from making contact with your body throughout the day. The result is a dry firearm that is ready to go at a moment’s notice.
Open Ended Muzzle
Like we mentioned earlier, customizability is one of the best things about owning any handgun, especially the M&P Shield. We’ve decided to design our Hylja IWB holster for M&P Shield with an open ended muzzle. This allows you to go ahead and install a threaded barrel if you decide that is the route you want to go!
Lightweight Kydex M&P Shield IWB Holster
Every one of our M&P Shield IWB Holsters are made out of an incredibly strong & lightweight 0.08″ thick thermoplastic called Kydex. This material has gained a tremendous amount of popularity throughout the years due to it’s durability, and it’s ability to be customized to any firearm.
Minimal Printing For Concealed Carry
We name our M&P Shield IWB holster after the norse term Hylja, which means to hide, conceal, or bury. That goes to show that from the initial inception of this design, concealment has been one of our top priorities. Since we use such a thin material our M&P Shield IWB kydex holsters, they allow for minimal printing. These holsters make incredible concealment holsters for your every day carry. By adding in the optional claw design, you can even pull the grip of your pistol even closer to your body. This adds a further degree of concealment, even allowing you to wear the Hylja M&P Shield IWB holster with thing clothing.
About The M&P Shield
Available in multiple calibers, the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield is one of the most popular concealed carry weapons in the world today. Considered a compact pistol, it allows for minimal printing and great characteristics for concealment. However, some gun owners are deterred by the single stack magazine as opposed to a single stack magazine. This makes some shooters opt for a double stack handgun in order , but for many shooters it is ideal due to the slimmer profile. Production first began on the M&P Shield first began in 2012.
Those that choose to stay prepared commonly choose to carry the M&P Shield as their every day carry weapon. The M&P Shield conceals really well – even for those with smaller body frames. To learn more about the M&P Shield, check out Smith & Wesson’s website here.
